Jim Thome joins exclusive list

I’m surprised no one mentioned this during yesterday’s recap on MLB Network. When Jim Thome hit his career 570 homerun in the 9th inning of yesterday’s Twins/Phillies game, he became the 12th active, 33rd overall player to hit a homerun against all 30 clubs. A month ago, I posted an entry about which active players have hit home runs against all 30 clubs. It’s almost been exactly a month since Vladimir Guerrero became the 11th active. There was a ton of hoopla over Vladdy joining the list. Yet, there was ONE line about Thome.

I thought this was interesting because Thome is 2nd in active home run leaders. A-Rod is first.

I am glad you got us that information that MLB Network failed to capitalize on during Thome’s shot.
But in all fairness, with the huge amount of stats and figures and stories that are hidden and well documented online nowadays, sometimes something falls through the cracks.
But that tidbit of information, to me, was vital. I thank you for remembering to let us know about it. It is a short list of the guys who have homered against all 30 MLB clubs, and Jim Thome certainly deserves to be on that list.
    Great fact….

You’re welcome Rays Renegade. As someone once told me, “you’re not one of those other girl fans. You’re a stat fan.” He was comparing me to the other girls who are fans because they think the players are hot (and I don’t mean playing skills).
